Neurodevelopment Specialist
Samira is a Neurodevelopment Specialist with a background in Clinical Psychology and Art Psychotherapy. Samira has over 17 years of experience working in the NHS. Throughout her career, Samira has developed a longstanding specialist interest in working with children and young people with neurodevelopmental needs, and their families. This involves working at both a diagnostic and therapeutic level. Samira has been working in the field of autism diagnosis for 17 years and is ADI-R and ADOS trained. She enjoys working within a multidisciplinary team to carry out person-centred neurodevelopmental assessments.
Samira currently works in private practice and in the NHS at a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service as a Clinical Lead for Neurodevelopmental Pathway. Samira is involved in parental interviews, ADOS assessments and interpretation, multidisciplinary panel discussions, and providing diagnostic feedback in a caring and sensitive manner to families. She also provides individual therapeutic support and psychoeducation post diagnosis. Samira’s therapeutic approach is shaped by creative, systemic, solution focussed, cognitive and behavioural practice.
Qualifications
Samira is a qualified Art Psychotherapist registered with the Health and Care Professional Council (HCPC). She also has Masters degrees in Clinical Psychology (Bangor University) and Psychological Research Methods (University of Warwick).
