Emily Alter
Hello, I’m Emily Alter, a BACP registered child and adolescent counsellor and psychotherapist with a deep passion for supporting children and young people. I hold an MA in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy for Children, Adolescents, and their Families from the University of Roehampton. This has given me a strong foundation in a range of therapeutic approaches, including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), person-centred therapy, and psychodynamic techniques. This allows me to offer flexible, tailored interventions that best meet the unique needs of each individual. I have also developed a deep understanding of play therapy as an essential form of communication to support emotional expression and well-being and can be utilised in my work.
Currently, I serve as the Head of Therapy Provision at two secondary schools, where I work with students aged 11-18. I support young people with a wide variety of challenges, including bereavement, self-harm, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and trauma. In addition, I work with Dr. Ben Weiner & Associates, providing private therapeutic interventions for young people with similar presentations to those I work with in schools.
My goal is to provide a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental environment where children and young people feel heard and understood. Through a collaborative and empathetic approach, I help them build resilience, develop coping strategies, and gain greater self-awareness.
