Dr Emma Sands

Emma is a highly experienced Clinical Psychologist with a first class academic and clinical background. She has worked as a senior clinician in a London CAMHS team where she was Clinical Lead for the Neurodevelopmental team, providing assessments for Autism and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, alongside working with children and with mental health difficulties. Emma also has extensive specialist experience conducting Autism assessments with children under 7 years of age within a Community Paediatric service. She is experienced in providing post-diagnostic education and support, including group interventions, to families and schools.

Alongside her CAMHS and Neurodevelopmental specialisms, Emma is highly experienced in the field of Paediatric Psychology. She has worked at Guy’s and St. Thomas’ Hospital and the Evelina Children’s Hospital, providing psychological services to children with acute and chronic medical conditions, and their families, across Paediatrics. She developed and led the Paediatric Psychology service in North West London at Central Middlesex and Northwick Park Hospitals. In these roles, she also supported the healthcare professionals by providing reflective practice groups, consultation and teaching.

Emma is an experienced supervisor and lecturer. She has worked as clinical and academic tutors for the Clinical Psychology Doctorate training programmes. She has a number of publications and has contributed to clinical policy development. She has additional specialist training in Systemic Family Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy. She is trained to administer key diagnostic tools for Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Emma is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and is a Chartered member of the British Psychological Society.
