Dr Salim Jakhra

I am a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, working both in the NHS for over a decade, as well as with Dr Ben Weiner and Associates. I graduated from medical school at University College London (UCL) and have also completed an intercalated BSc in Medical Humanities at UCL and an MSc in Child and Adolescent Mental Health at UCL with Distinction.  I am registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) and am a member of the Royal College of Psychiatry, on the Specialist Register for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
Within the NHS I am the local Lead Psychiatrist for the Neurodevelopmental Pathway which includes specialist assessment and treatment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and specialist assessment of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).  My work also includes the assessment and treatment of acute psychiatric disorders, which include depression and low mood, anxiety and panic, trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), as well as ongoing risk management.
I am skilled in evidence-based prescribing of psychotropic medications, as well as experienced with therapeutic work in a range of modalities, including Family Therapy, Mentalisation Based Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.  My specialist interests include ADHD, the mental health of young refugees and unaccompanied minors, and sports psychiatry.  I am passionate about the mental health of young people and find joy in my work both through my interactions with families as well as in the outcomes achieved.
