Dr Hannah Cox

I am Dr Hannah Cox, a HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist. I have worked in the NHS for over 10 years in various mental health settings, with people of all ages and from different backgrounds. I am passionate about working with individuals and/or families, to help them understand difficulties they may be experiencing and using evidence-based therapeutic interventions to begin to overcome these.

I have worked with children, adolescents and adults including people with learning disabilities and neurological difficulties in community, hospital and clinic settings. My enthusiasm for learning about infant and child development has led me to have a particular interest in working with children and young people and their families. I also have a passion for working with new or expectant parents who may be struggling to adjust to parenthood, have difficulties bonding with their baby or who are experiencing mental health difficulties themselves. I believe offering support in these early years is so important because it can lead to positive outcomes for children and their families in later life.

I am experienced in working with a range of different psychological models, including cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), compassion-focussed therapy (CFT), attachment-based approaches, narrative and family therapy. I enjoy thinking with people about which model or models may suit them, to provide individualised support. I understand that coming for therapy is likely to be a time of many mixed emotions. I will always offer a judgement-free, friendly and confidential space for people to share their experiences with me, so that we can work together to find a way through.
